Trigger Point Dry Needling
Trigger point dry needling is a very effective treatment technique for muscle pain and dysfunction.Trigger points are tiny contraction knots within a muscle that develop when a muscle is injured or overworked, causing pain and dysfunction. They typically develop as a result of overload in a muscle such as repetitive use, or abnormal loading of muscle associated with poor postures.
Trigger point dry needling involves the insertion of a filament needle into a trigger point within amuscle. This elicits a “ local twitch response” which serves to deactivate and desensitize the trigger point, thereby alleviating the associated pain and dysfunction.
